Gum As An Appetite Suppressant

Gum. No seriously, gum as a fat burner. OK, so I’ve talked about how various activities can burn fat (or calories to be more exact, calories that translate to burned fat), now chewing gum isn’t going to melt away hundreds of calories an hour, but I bet 99.9 people out of 100 will admit that a person doesn’t eat while chewing gum. So when you have the munchies, chew on some gum instead. I like orbit gum. It says it has less than 5 calories, which I’m sure you burn off just with the chewing, plus I imagine those calories only count if you swallow the gum.

It says it has 1g of carbohydrates which is less than one percent of the daily rda, based on a 2000 calorie diet. Again, that probably only applies to people who swallow their gum, which I don’t recommend. My siblings used to tell me it would stay in my belly for seven years if I swallowed it. So back to the topic at hand, when you are hungy, chew the gum. It’s basically a “free” food in that you don’t get any fat from it and you might just burn some extra calories, deepening on how hard you chomp, but one thing is for sure, you are likely to eat less because your mouth is preoccupied!
