Walking vs. Running

Fat burning is a complicated process.  I once read that walking slower (but not slow) burns MORE fat that walking fast or running.  Isn’t that crazy and counter-intuitive???

I was shocked.  Shouldn’t fat burning be simple and straight forward?  Shouldn’t it be practical and easy to do?  But it’s not.

This was surprising to find out that walking medium is more effective than fast walk or running.  But then again life is surprising all the time.  Like those people who have the courage to bare the embarrassment, and use hand weights while they walk and then swing their arms up and down like they were doing curls in the gym.  Good for them!  I don’t think I have the courage to burn fat that way.  I am a bit too self conscious.  Maybe that’s why my fat burning methods thus far have not been as fruitful as I would like.

It’s a bit hypocritical.  I’m embarrassed of my fat, but also embarrassed to use the methods that might help me burn off that fat.  Hypocritical isn’t the right word.  Perhaps it’s more of an fallacy of logic, or a bit oxymoronic…  I’m not sure but I know that I have to do something if I want to see better results!

Walking vs. Running Reviews

Delores Usher Says:

I am 54 years old and have been overweight for the past 7 years at approx. 230lbs. I started walking 3 to 4 days a week for 20 minutes on the treadmill and since March I am down to 207lbs. I start with a medium pace and always swing my arms back and forth for a great workout and every 5 minutes I break into a slow jog for about 30 seconds. Never say you don’t have the courage to do anything because if you think you cant’t you won’t. You owe it to yourself to at least try. I am still uncomfortable with my size and I still feel fat but I am less self conscious now because people are beginning to notice my weight loss. I am very happy and more motivated now that I can actually see some results after exercising consistently for the past 5 months.
